The Circle of Friends Society of The Jopie Huisman Museum has an important place within the museum. Jopie was seriously ill at the beginning of the nineteen eighties and started to think about what he should do with his work. He was touched by the reactions of people who came to his exhibitions and wanted to keep his artworks together.
Therefore, in the summer of 1985, the Jopie Huisman Museum was founded with the aim of exhibiting his work and advocating his philosophy. In this way, the unique collection with its great philosophical value could remain together.
The Jopie Huisman Museum’s Circle of Friends has originated from this group of enthusiastic friends. Jopie’s work and philosophy resonate with many visitors and over the years many have become Friends. Due to this, the Circle of Friends is one of the largest in the country.
The Circle of Friends help in supporting and promoting the museum with the help of donations and voluntary efforts by its members. Furthermore, the museum is not subsidized so this support is absolutely necessary!
Members of The Circle of Friends have free admission to the museum. In addition, they receive a discount on various activities in the museum and a 10% discount in the museum shop.
Moreover, Friends are very welcome at our festive yearly meeting at the opening of the museum year and at specially organised activities for friends. Friends receive a newsletter twice a year in which they are kept updated about everything that is going on in the museum.
